protein for fat loss?
The importance of protein for fat loss or muscle gain
Protein builds muscle right? Well… kind of.
Often times when people want to gain muscle they get told to “eat more protein”. That is of course solid advice, as long as the protein is from high quality sources (animal and fish products, especially local, are best.)
Protein gives our muscles the raw materials they need to grow, such as; Amino Acids, Vitamin B, Iron, and High Quality Fatty Acids. We need protein to build muscle!
But protein also has other important benefits. For one, eating protein helps us produce Leptin. Leptin is a hormone that makes us feel satiated from food. (We feel fuller, longer). It also provides us with long lasting energy.
If we eat protein in the morning, it’ll help us feel more full during the day. This will limit the amount of food we eat, even into the night. For a lot of people who are overweight, eating late at night is a common habit. Eating protein in the morning can help eliminate these cravings and give you more steady energy as you go through your day.
I’d recommend eating protein such as eggs, sausage or steak in the morning upon waking, and see how it influences your mood, energy and cravings throughout the day!
Enjoy,
Hunter
